Bhutthi is a typical Konkani dish. This is a coconut-based semi-dry dish with onion Tadka. Normally we use onion in this dish, but here I've substituted it with shallots/sambar onion !! Tastes wonderful. You can use other veggies too, like gobi, cabbage, mushrooms.
Ingredients
1 cup peeled sambar onions/shallots
2 finely chopped onions(normal onion)
6 tsp oil
salt to taste
FOR THE MASALA PASTE:
3/4 cup grated fresh coconut
1/2 tsp coriander /daniya seeds
little tamarind
3-4 red chillies roasted in Lil oil
Grind the above ingredients into a paste (a little coarse)
Procedure
In a Kadai heat oil and fry the chopped onions till light brown in colour
Add the shallots, salt and fry till it is cooked
Add the masala and 1/2 cup water
Boil well and serve hot with rice and dal
