MULIK is a traditional deep-fried sweet jackfruit fritter made in monsoon seasons when the jackfruit is available in abundance in Karavali !! You can prepare this with ground rice also, but I've used it here Rava because it is very easy. Grind the jackfruit, coconut, jaggery into a paste and store it in the freezer, and use as and when you want to make Mulik, by adding Rava to it.

With the same paste, you can make jackfruit idli or Muddo, by adding idli Rava to it. It also tastes yummy.

Ingredients

1 cup chopped jackfruit bulbs

1 cup semolina/ Rava

3/4 cup fresh grated coconut

1/2 cup or according to taste jaggery

Salt to taste

Procedure

  • Remove seeds from the jackfruit bulbs and roughly chop them

  • Grind them with coconut, jaggery, salt in a fine paste

  • Don't add water

  • Put the paste in a bowl add semolina

  • Heat oil and make small balls and deep fry on a medium flame

  • Don't fry on a high flame, because it will be cooked only outside and will be uncooked inside

  • Fry till it becomes brown colour and put on a tissue paper

  • you can store it in a container for 5-6 days.
