Bhindi sagle or bhindi masala is a typical Konkani dish. This is a very tasty coconut-based gravy, tastes very delicious with white rice and dal. You can also have this with dosa or roti.

Ingredients
250 gms bhindi/ lady's fingers
2 tsp oil
Salt to taste
For the masala paste:
1 grated coconut
little tamarind
1 tsp coriander seeds,4 methi seeds and 4 dry red chillies roasted in 1 tsp oil
Grind the above into a paste and keep aside
For the tempering:
2 tsp oil
1 tsp mustard
1 sprig of curry leaves
Procedure
Wash and wipe bhindis and cut both the ends, cut into 1-inch pieces
In a pan heat 2 tsp oil and fry the bhindis with little salt till they are cooked
Add the masala and water as required to adjust the consistency (this is a semi-thick gravy)
Add salt to taste and make it boil for 5-10 mins
Temper with the above ingredients and serve hot with rice and dal.
