Fluffy, flaky and spicy, Masala Pooris or Puris are Indian unflattened bread which is made from wheat flour or atta. Here Rava Masala pooris are made from Rava or Sooji and then mixed spices are added to enhance its taste.

Ingredients

1 cup fine rava / sooji / semolina

1/2 cup besan

1/2 cup maida

1/4 tsp turmeric powder/ Haldi

1/2 tsp red chilli powder

1/4 cup chopped coriander leaves / dhaniya pattha

1/2 inch grated ginger

1 green chilli grated

1/2 tsp cumin seeds/jeera

1to 2 tsp cooking oil

Salt to taste

Oil for deep frying

Procedure

  • In a deep bowl take Rava, maida and besan. Mix well and add jeera, Haldi, red chilli powder, grated ginger, green chilli, chopped coriander leaves, salt and 2 tsp oil.

  • Combine everything using your hands. Now gently pour water little by little making a medium soft dough. The dough should be neither soft nor hard. It should be of poori consistency dough.

  • Let the dough rest for 10 minutes. After 10 minutes, divide it into portions and make balls.

  • Heat oil in a pan. Roll out the balls into pooris and deep fry in hot oil, till they turn a crisp and golden brown colour.

  • And your crispy, flaky masala pooris are ready to serve.

  • Serve hot pooris with any sabji or chutney.
