Bhindi Chakko/Dry Sabji

Ingredients


250 gms bhindi/ okra /lady's fingers

6 tsp oil

1 tsp mustard

2 sprigs of curry leaves

Salt to taste


For the masala paste:

3/4 cup fresh grated coconut

little tamarind

2 tsp urad dal,1/4 tsp coriander seeds, and 4-5 red chillies roasted in 1/2 tsp oil

Grind the above ingredients into a semi coarse masala with little water and keep aside




Procedure

  • Wash, wipe the bhindis and cut the ends

  • Slit the bhindis into 4 pieces lengthwise and cut into 1-inch pieces

  • In a non-stick pan take oil, add mustard, once it crackles add curry leaves and cut bhindis

  • Add salt to taste and cook with a lid covered, adding little salt

  • Once the bhindis are cooked add the masala,mix well and cook further for 5-10 mins, till it becomes dry

  • Serve hot with rice and dal.
