Shimla Mirch Matar Green Masala

Capsicum Matar green masala without onion and garlic is a flavourful and vibrant Indian dish that combines the sweetness of green peas and bell peppers with fresh herbs and spices.







INGREDIENTS:

1 shimla mirch / green capsicum cut into cubes

1/2 cup boiled fresh green peas

Salt to taste

2 tbsp oil

1 tsp jeer1/2 tsp haldi/turmeric powder

1/2 tsp garam masala

1 tsp lemon juice

Chopped coriander leaves


For the masala paste:

2 green chillies

1/2 inch ginger

A handful of coriander leaves

2 tbsp peanuts

1 tsp white til/ sesame seeds

2 tbsp coconut gratings

2 tsp oil

Firstly, roast the peanuts and transfer them to a bowl.

Next, roast all the remaining ingredients in the oil till they are lightly brown or a nice aroma comes

Grind the roasted ingredients with peanuts into a fine paste and keep aside.


PROCEDURE:

  • Heat a pan and put 1 tsp of oil in it. Add capsicum cubes with a little salt and roast till they cook. Transfer it to a bowl.

  • Put the remaining oil in the pan, add jeera, followed by the ground masala paste.

  • Roast the masala till the raw smell disappears. Add the turmeric powder, garam masala powder, and fry for a second.

  • Add in the boiled green peas, capsicum cubes, salt to taste, and water to adjust the consistency of the gravy. Let the gravy boil for 5 minutes. Turn off the flame and garnish with lemon juice and chopped coriander leaves.

  • Serve hot with roti, chapati, dosa, or rice.
