Vastad Rotti is a traditional Indian flatbread that has almost the same texture as Paratha and a little sweeter taste as banana and sugar is added. The dough is almost the same as Mangalore Buns but the only difference is this is less sweet with added crushed pepper, and not deep-fried as buns.

Ingredients

2 cups Maida/ all-purpose flour

2 overripe bananas

1/2 cup curd

3 tbsp sugar

1/2 tsp cooking soda

1/2 tsp crushed jeera

1/2 tsp crushed pepper

1/2 tsp salt

Oil for cooking

Procedure

  • In a bowl mash the bananas and add curd, salt, sugar cooking soda, jeera, pepper and mix well

  • Keep closed until the sugar dissolves

  • Now add the flour as required and make a soft dough

  • Keep the dough covered for 6-8 hours

  • Divide the dough into portions and make balls

  • Roll each ball into a thick poori (like naan )

  • Cook it on hot Tava using 2-3 tsp oil

  • Serve hot with dalithoy or butter
